But hardwood can be refinished, and it will look like new again. This is not profitable for the large chains that own this market. In order for buyers to constantly purchase new flooring, the industry came up with LVP, or luxury vinyl plank. It should be noted that there is nothing luxury about it; it is just a word, and the product itself is a plastic base with vinyl film glued to it. The material itself is not capable of retaining its properties for more than 3-4 years, so you have to buy new flooring again. In essence, the manufacturer is deceiving you when it gives an 8 or 10-year warranty. Within 2-3 years after installation most LVP flooring products will look terrible, and you will see the joints between the planks.
